With the holidays fast approaching, it is our goal to raise the “spirit meter” in Ford City:
The event organizers for the upcoming Ford City light-up event “Fantasy of Lights: Believe in the Magic of Christmas” (Saturday, November 30th) are seeking area churches, youth groups, civic organizations, or vendors to provide additional food, activity, or give-away booths.
Please note that no booth fees are involved in participation with churches, schools, and non-profits. We are working towards increased community involvement, and hope you use the opportunity as a fundraising effort for your mission, or as an action of engagement (or goodwill) in increasing the “spirit meter”.
We will do everything in our power to accommodate all who wish to participate! Help us create the magic of the holiday season with family, friends, neighbors, and visitors alike. Together we can raise the “spirit meter” and create special memories…Thank you!

One of God’s presents to the world, simple yet elegant
Paul Klukan wants to know if today’s early morning snow is a test from God. From his cell phone as he was arriving downtown for last minute preparations, he (Paul) assured me that the Light Up Night Festivities would go on as planned with maybe more volunteers rotating through the Hot Chocolate stand, taking a cup with them as they head indoors to warm up their own bodies in stores nearby. At a special work meeting preparing for Light Up Night on Nov 24th, 2012, 12 volunteers met (11/2) to report on preparations so far and what is still needed. Special signs are going to be included for in-kind contributions/outstanding volunteerism such as Joe from Riverside Auto for bringing a bucket truck on Nov 4th to string support cables for new light strings along Ford Street. That deserves a “Wow!”. From Paul and all of us, thank you big time!!!!
Volunteers will meet at the Klukans on Nov 7th to repair old decorations and check and change light bulbs on older decorations, and to assemble new light strings for both sides of Ford Street using energy-efficient LED light bulbs. Roughly 3000 new bulbs were purchased for the project, all expenses coming from generous Ford City donors.
Work day Nov 11th: If you feel like you’re missing out on the fun, volunteers are needed to help put up decorations along Ford Street starting at 1PM. Come on down and bring a friend. If you have any special skills you’d like to offer (i.e. to be a crew leader, if you’re an electrician, etc), call Paul or Barb at 724-763-3974 in advance.
See you there!
Paul and Barb recently asked if I could put music from Remember When on the Renaissance website, embedded or whatever could be done. Through Google and YouTube, I found three groups in Pennsylvania and Ohio called “Remember When” so I sent links to Barb so she and Paul could tell me which one was correct. None of the above? How can that be right?
What’s nice is that Barb sent me the website of the RIGHT group and I found out quickly they are MUCH BETTER than the three groups I found, like day vs night better. Below is a link for one sample and you can go to their website for more. Tell them Carl sent you!
Who? Ok, tell them the Ford City Renaissance Committee sent you.
Sample: I’m a Girl Watcher
Hope to see you at the dance!
